Dhow to the Moon
From diving into the depths of the ocean for pearls to voyaging into the farthest reaches of space, the UAE’s incredible journey of progress and technological advancement is captured in one striking piece created by Kaveh Ahangar in collaboration with the American Community School.
The theme is “Innovation”, and the centerpiece of the mural is a space shuttle, which is a proud symbol of the UAE’s space program. The stunning work of art also pays homage to the UAE’s rich history and tradition of exploration through the depiction of a Dhow.
The mural is strife with stark juxtaposition such as the meeting of the ocean and the sky to represent the union of the past and the future. The piece also features a pearl in its shell above the shuttle, shining as brightly as the shuttle’s destination, the moon.
